This class is for beginners to advanced; no previous experience is necessary. Russell will be teaching how to draw from observation in the botanical gardens. We will walk through the gardens and find a plant or corner of the garden that inspires us to draw. Next, we will sketch our inspirational plant/setting in pencil and learn about value, composition, and texture. Finally, we will learn how to use oil pastels on black paper and create a drawing in color. instructor Russel Kahn Originally from New York City and Cincinnati, Russell has been creating and teaching art for the past 35 years in the Southwest and New England. Russell particularly loves printmaking, drawing, creating soft and oil pastel paintings, and working with clay. Russell hopes for his students to realize that their voice and risk-taking are the most important components of arts education.
