About this event
One of 57 upcoming events at Tucson Symphony Center.
The opening of ¡Fiesta Latina! features the intoxicating, seductive sound of the classical guitar in the greatest of all guitar concertos, Joaquín Rodrigo’s haunting Concierto de Aranjuez with Rafael Aguirre. The guitarist is hailed as “one of the most acclaimed ambassadors of the Spanish guitar” by Madrid’s El País. Experience Marianna Martines’ Sinfonia in C Major—Martines is recognized as the first known female composer to write a symphony. The program concludes with Joseph Haydn’s famed “Surprise” Symphony, a piece that still jolts listeners more than two centuries later.
