Blue Plate Special

Blue Plate Special is a tri-state bluegrass band serving up a rich blend of bluegrass, blues, Cajun, and swing with a fresh, roots-driven twist. Fronted by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jay Friedman—whose journey has led from PBS features to sharing the stage at NYC’s Iridium—this group brings both heart and history to every performance. The band features Dave Gross on mandolin—who’s performed alongside artists like Bob Weir and Sammy Hagar, and played major festivals with Gangstagrass—Tom Wise on upright bass, channeling deep Midwest roots and soulful songwriting, and Nick Conte on guitar and vocals, who has shared stages with Tony Trischka, Jeff Austin, and members of the Grateful Dead family. With tight harmonies, seasoned musicianship, and a deep connection to the roots of American music, Blue Plate Special delivers a sound that’s both timeless and alive. 🎶
