Bare It All - Unframed Stories Inspired by the Ulrich Museum of Art’s exhibition Bare It All, Unframed Stories invites community members, students, and the Wichita State University campus to gather in a shared space and connect through the power of storytelling. The event will feature personal stories, memories, reflections, and folktales that reveal moments of vulnerability, resilience, transformation, and self-discovery. Hosted by actor and educator Kate Compton, each evening weaves together invited speakers and open-mic participants, balancing curated works with spontaneous voices that rise from the audience. Each storyteller is given 7 minutes to share their tale, which may be humorous, heartfelt, unexpected, or profound. Whether revealing a hidden truth, revisiting a cherished memory, exploring imagination, or simply speaking from the heart, Unframed Stories is a space to be heard, witnessed, and connected through story. A storytelling workshop offered prior to the event on Tuesday, September 22nd will help participants develop and refine their stories before taking the stage. Please request your participation here: . Kate Compton is an actor, director, filmmaker, and storyteller who is devoted to exploring the many ways stories can be told and shared. Across her career, she has worked in a range of mediums and performance styles, continually experimenting with how narratives can be shaped through voice, body, image, and collaboration. Kate earned her MFA in Acting from Northwestern University and her BFA in Theatre from Michigan State University. She also holds a certificate from The Second City Conservatory (paper proof that she is funny) and has performed improv and sketch comedy all over the country. With over two decades of professional experience in Los Angeles and Chicago, she has worked extensively on both stage and screen. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor of Acting for the School of Performing Arts at Wichita State University, where she continues to teach, create, and explore storytelling as a living, evolving practice.
