About this event

Ulysses Reading for Bloomsday Dowling Library 5-7 pm FREE What is Bloomsday?  Bloomsday is a literary celebration held every year on June 16 in honor of the novel Ulysses by James Joyce. It commemorates the events of the book, which all take place on a single day -June 16, 1904 in Dublin. The name “Bloomsday” comes from the novel’s main character, Leopold Bloom. Bloomsday is both a tribute to one of the most influential novels in modern literature and a lively cultural celebration, especially for fans of Joyce and Irish literature. Please join us for a Bloomsday celebration on June 16th and June 19th as we honor James Joyce and his masterpiece Ulysses with readings, conversation, and festivities inspired by the world of Leopold Bloom.
