Using fresh flowers, leaves, and more, you’ll gently hammer natural pigments directly into fabric squares to create one-of-a-kind botanical prints that preserve the beauty of the season. Sept. 24 – Fantastic Foliage Dive into the fascinating diversity of plant leaves! In this class, you’ll investigate an incredible variety of shapes, textures, patterns, and specialized adaptations. Outdoor tour, so please dress for the weather with appropriate footwear. Oct 1 – Clay Imprints Create beautiful clay imprints inspired by nature. Press leaves, pinecones and other seasonal treasures gathered from the Garden into clay to capture their beauty. Turn your handmade creation into a one-of-a-kind keepsake ornament or festive decoration! Oct 8 – Paper Collage Art Celebrate the colors of the season as autumn transforms the Gardens. Create your own hand-colored papers inspired by the fall foliage and textures in nature. Then cut, tear and layer them into a unique collage that captures the beauty of the season. Oct 15 – Wildflower Meadow Exploration Take a crisp autumn stroll through our meadow to discover late-season blooms, golden grasses, and seedheads in full display. You’ll learn how native wildflowers provide vital services for wildlife while gaining a new appreciation for the meadow’s seasonal transition. You will also have the opportunity to collect some seeds to take home. Oct 22 – Tree ID – Fruits and Seeds Join Laura Roberts, ISA certified arborist and NJ licensed tree expert, for an examination of fruits and seeds as key identification features . Sharpen your observation skills by getting to know trees as if you were meeting a new friend. Learn what they have in common and how to look for characteristics that distinguish one species from another. Please dress for the weather with appropriate footwear.
