@ Celebrate Earth Day at the Sierra Nevada Alliance’s Wild and Scenic Film Festival Mark your calendars! The Alliance’s Wild and Scenic Film Festival will take place on Earth Day – Wednesday, April 22. Join us at the Lake Tahoe Community College Duke Theatre for an evening of award-winning, awe-inspiring films that focus on the environment, local activism, and adventure. Sierra Nevada Alliance has been a host of the Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour since 2006. The flagship festival hosted by the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) takes place in winter and then hits the road to visit local communities! This inspiring festival combines award-winning environmental and adventure films with the energy of local activism. Each year, we share films to inspire viewers to take further action regarding issues impacting our environment, ourselves, and the world. Concerned citizens worldwide know the urgency of the many environmental crises facing our planet today, but most don’t know how they can contribute to the fight. The festival provides an opportunity for attendees in the Sierra to support their local advocates for the environment. Purchase your tickets here. Wild & Scenic On Tour partners with environmental groups, nature centers, museums, nonprofits, outdoor retailers, conscious businesses, schools, churches and colleges who host the film festival to raise awareness for their campaigns, attract new supporters, raise funds, and bring global and regional issues to the local level. Wild & Scenic reaches over 65,000 people annually. And every year we add new venues to the tour– more people see the films, more activists get inspired, and the groundswell for the environmental movement grows. Founded in 1993, the Sierra Nevada Alliance protects and restores Sierra lands, water, wildlife and rural communities. More than ninety conservation groups are members of the Alliance and the organization builds the capacity of individuals and groups to save all the Sierra’s special places while uniting everyone for regional action.
