“Knowing Walter” is a 45-minute slideshow presentation by Knik Museum curator and Alaska historian, Lamont Hawkins, Jr. It covers the life of former Wasilla resident Walter Daniel Teeland, who, along with his wife Vivian, bought Orville Herning’s Knik Trading Co. in 1947. They ran it as Teeland’s Shopping Center from 1947 to 1960, then Teeland’s Country Store from 1960 to 1972. History Nights are FREE Events and open to the Public!
