About this event

Join us for an evening of films centered on free-flowing rivers, wild salmon, and the energy choices that shape our future. Stories of Free Rivers and Wild Salmon features screenings of two powerful short films, The Super Salmon and Undammed, followed by a panel discussion exploring the connections between energy development, salmon, and the true costs of traditional hydropower. 📅 February 16 ⏰ 6:30–8:30 PM 📍 Palmer Train Depot – 610 S Valley Way, Palmer, AK 99645 Hosted by the Susitna River Coalition. Free and open to the public. The Super Salmon The Super Salmon is an intimate and inspiring look into the impacts of the proposed Susitna-Watana dam on the Susitna River in south-central Alaska. The story outlines the threats posed by the Susitna Dam and the work of the Susitna River Coalition, which is aimed at protecting our free-flowing, healthy watershed so that future generations of salmon, wildlife, and humans can depend on it as we do today Undammed After witnessing a massive fish kill on her ancestral home waters, Yurok tribal attorney Amy Bowers Cordalis dedicated her life to reversing the generations-long destruction wrought by the Klamath River dams. Undammed follows her journey to free the Klamath, from testifying before Congress to passing down fishing traditions within her young family. Now that the Klamath dams are finally coming down, she remains confident that the future of her tribe is bright. “It’s not a test,” Bowers Cordalis says of the largest dam-removal project in US history. “It will work.” Palmer Train Depot 610 S Valley Way, Palmer, AK
