Both share a commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and celebrating the flavors of North Carolina. Botanist & Barrel and DeFi Wines is the South’s first natural cidery and winery. Everything they do starts with local fruit, think heirloom apples, muscadines, blueberries that are grown spray-free on their own farm or sourced from neighbors who farm the right way. “We make cider the slow way, with fruit that never needed fixing.” Botanist & Barrels ciders & wines are are alive, wild-fermented, unfiltered, gluten-free, and never pasteurized. Boxcarr Farms began with a simple dream and a patch of stubborn Southern red clay — to bring their family together and build something meaningful, delicious, and a little wild. What started as a modest farm soon grew into a living, breathing family endeavor. Inspired by small Italian farmstead creameries, they blend their own farmstead goat milk with locally sourced cow milk from nearby family dairies, crafting cheeses that tell a story of land, livestock, and love. From their soft and bloomy squarelets to their aged Boxcarr blocks, every make celebrates the seasons and the people who pour their hearts into it.
