Community Jam Session with Buddy Lee Dickens

Join us for a community jam session with Buddy Lee Dickens, nephew of Hazel Dickens! We’ll have some good ol’ bluegrass pickin’ and you are welcome to join in or just come and enjoy a great traditional jam session! Buddy credits his inspiration for his love of music to his larger-than-life aunt, Hazel Dickens who wrote many songs about uplifting the working class as well as advocating for miners. “Hazel could be found at picket lines, union meetings and events performing and looking for ways she might be of help or service to the union and miners in order to help them get the benefits that were denied and long overdue,” said Buddy. This event will be held in the Matewan Community Center on the 2nd floor of the Cecil E. Roberts Building in Matewan, West Virginia.
