Hands-on bookmaking classes in the Book Arts studio! Take this stab bookbinding class to learn to make your own journals & hand-bound soft cover books! Stab Binding is a simple and beautiful bookbinding technique, with a variety of stitches ranging from simple to more advanced. In this class we will cover two beginner stitching examples of Japanese and Chinese origin, Yotsume Toji (4-hole binding), and Koki Toji (Noble Binding). Participants will leave class with up to 3 hand-bound books of varying stitches. Consider taking the Intermediate class afterwards to broaden your cache of bookbinding techniques. Things to note: • Makers of all skill levels are welcome. Any questions about the class please email curious@wnybookarts.org KATE STAPLETON PARZYCH Kate Stapleton Parzych draws with light using digital, silver, and non-silver alternative techniques to record the spaces between moments that will be recalled later as memory. Her works on paper include photographs, monotypes, collage, and artist’s books. Additionally, Kate has studied energy awareness as an intuitive meditation practice and is a Reiki practitioner. She begins her workshops at Book Arts with a brief drop-in meditation to bring students into the present moment of creativity. Website / Classes
