Hands-on woodblock relief printmaking class in the Book Arts studio! In this class, you will explore relief printmaking by carving into woodblocks to create monochromatic prints. We will focus on your relationships with the wood and tools as printmakers. No previous printmaking experience is required, and all skill levels are welcome. Complete and understand relief printmaking basic processes. Projects will be one or two layers of woodblock print on Kozo paper, one design per student, and around 10 final prints per person, with woodblock print sizes around 3’’ x 4.5’’. The final print could be used as an individual art piece, postcard, bookplate, etc.   *** This is a two class workshop. Participants must attend both class dates listed in the registration form. *** It is helpful to come to class with a simple idea or sketch of what you’d like to carve into your block. Things to note: • Makers of all skill levels are welcome. This class is suitable for ages 14+ • All necessary tools to participate are provided. Any questions about the class please email curious@wnybookarts.org SUDI WANG SuDi Wang (she/her) was born in Kunming, China and now lives in Buffalo NY, as a part-time printmaking artist. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Visual Art at SUNY Fredonia in 2021 and is currently studying for her MFA in Visual Art at the University at Buffalo. SuDi’s artworks focus on monster creations that were influenced by different cultures that she grew up with and around. Her work also includes suminagashi, book art, and zine publications.
