A rare and intimate portrait of one of American music’s most distinctive voices, Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul traces the life, artistry, and legacy of the legendary musician whose work helped define Southern rock. Through archival recordings, rare interviews, performance footage, and never-before-seen material, the film follows Allman’s journey from a childhood marked by loss to his enduring influence on generations of musicians. Centered around a candid final interview with Allman, the documentary explores his lifelong connection to the blues, the formation of The Allman Brothers Band alongside his brother Duane, and the personal struggles, triumphs, and reinventions that shaped his career. As filmmaker Cameron Crowe describes it, “A timeless portrait of one of our greatest bands ever… The Music of My Soul tells the story of survival, loyalty, love, loss, family, genius, perseverance, and one of the wildest rides in rock history.” This special Wheeler Opera House presentation begins with a live acoustic performance by The Other Brothers Acoustic Duo, Bill McKay and Rob Eaton Jr, celebrating the music and spirit of Gregg Allman and The Allman Brothers Band. Following the screening, Lead Producer and Gregg Allman’s longtime manager Michael Lehman and director James Keach will take part in a moderated conversation, sharing stories from the making of the film and personal reflections on Allman’s extraordinary life and legacy. A portion of every ticket supports the Wheeler Associates Music Scholarship, established to champion young musicians who demonstrate passion, creativity, and dedication to their craft.
