Celebrate more than 60 years of American folk music with The Kingston Trio at the Wheeler Opera House in Aspen. Formed in San Francisco in 1957, the group reached national prominence with “Tom Dooley,” which topped the charts in 1958. The Kingston Trio went on to place 19 albums in the Billboard Top 100, including 14 in the top 10 and five at No. 1. Current members Mike Marvin, Tim Gorelangton, and Paul Robinson bring personal and musical connections to the Trio’s history. Performing around a single microphone in homage to the original group, they combine close harmonies, acoustic instrumentation, stories, and memories. The program draws from a catalog that includes “Tom Dooley,” “M.T.A.,” “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?,” “Greenback Dollar,” “Scotch and Soda,” and “This Land Is Your Land,” along with a special tribute to Arlo Guthrie.
