Suffrage Story Time

Every vote counts during Suffrage Story Time. This program introduces the concept of voting rights to our youngest community members, by giving them the opportunity to listen to two story books about Women’s Suffrage and then vote for their favorite book. Local artist and historian, Madeline Hansen, will lead the program by reading two Women’s Suffrage themed picture books. Once the children have heard both books, each child will be invited to visit a polling place and cast a ballot for their favorite book. Each voter will receive their own “I Voted” sticker as they exit the polls. Children will learn about Suffrage history while exercising their listening skills, forming an opinion, expressing their opinion by voting, counting votes, waiting for results, and practicing positive etiquette for winning and losing.
