Inspired by a snapping turtle the author helped cross the road who was older than the, reservoir that swallowed her home – the story of the snapping turtle anchors the debut collection of United Fauna Dispatches: real science behind sardonic stories and includes eco-surrealist paintings of a natural world that refuses to go quietly. This book is suitable for ages 10 to adult.
Collin Douma is a Canadian-American visual artist working near Woodstock, New York. At age 17, his first animated short, “Celebrating Us,” won two Canadian film festivals and was added to the National Gallery of Canada’s permanent collection.
