Join the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC) and our Nuestros Bosques program for a community reforestation day along the Greenway in Providence. Together, we’ll plant native tree saplings and shrubs in a recently restored area where invasive mugwort was removed to make room for native plants. These trees and understory plants play an important role in supporting wildlife, improving habitat, and strengthening our urban forest. Depending on tree availability, we may also participate in bare-root tree planting, an effort to establish even more trees throughout the Greenway and Providence’s growing urban forest network. Interested in helping with additional tree planting? Bare-root trees must be planted within 24 hours of delivery, and delivery dates are not yet confirmed. Fill out our interest form to join our contact list and receive updates about additional planting opportunities. No experience necessary! All ages and experience levels are welcome. Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, and bring a reusable water bottle. WRWC will provide all planting tools, gloves, materials, snacks, and water. Meet at the painted shipping containers along the Greenway at 133 Aleppo Street, Providence, RI 02909. Street parking is available. Additional parking is available at Riverside Park, approximately 0.25 miles from the meeting location. This event will be facilitated in both English and Spanish. The nearest accessible restroom is approximately 0.25 miles away at 90 Salmon Street (private access). Please let us know about any accessibility needs when registering so we can do our best to accommodate you. Contacto el día del evento: Kuno Haimbodi [email protected] Nuestros Bosques is a WRWC program focused on forest stewardship, outdoor learning, and community engagement in Providence.
