Influenced by the sounds of Gospel, Gospel Highlife, West African traditions, and Western classical music, he creates colorful performances that move effortlessly across styles. Originally from Suffolk, Mejedi’s musical path has taken him from the UK to London’s Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and now to The Juilliard School in New York City. At just 20 years old, he is already emerging as a major talent, performing alongside some of New York’s leading musicians, including acclaimed pianist Emmet Cohen. Mejedi has appeared at renowned venues such as Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Smalls in Greenwich Village, and Lucille’s in Harlem. In the UK, he has performed at major stages including the Royal Albert Hall with the Chineke! Foundation and Ronnie Scott’s with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Great Britain (NYJO), as well as festivals such as Kempten Jazz Spring with SEED Ensemble. A rising voice with international momentum, Mejedi brings fresh energy and remarkable maturity to every performance.
