Fall in Miami doesn't mean sweaters. It means the Bandshell lights up, Coral Gables stays open late and Halloween shows up a month early. If we were building the perfect weekend, here's how it would go.
Friday, 6pm: Gallery Night in Coral Gables
Start where the night starts. Gallery Night returns to the Coral Gables Museum from 6 to 10pm, with DJ Kauze in the courtyard and a Halloween activity for kids. At 7:30 there's a free 45-minute salsa class led by Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Coral Gables, all ages and levels. Take it, then keep moving.
Friday, 8pm: Thundercat on the beach
This is the one. Thundercat, a multi-GRAMMY winner, brings jazz, funk, R&B and psychedelic soul to the Miami Beach Bandshell on his Distracted AF Tour. An open-air bandshell by the ocean, on an October night. That's the whole pitch.
Saturday: lip sync, then improv
Afternoon at Myriad Brewing, where Pints & Popstars: Lip Sync Battle runs 3 to 6pm for a good cause. That night, Villain Theater's Saturday Gigantic Improv Comedy Show starts at 8:30. If you'd rather sing along, Led Zeppelin tribute Zoso plays the Bandshell at 7.
Sunday: trick-or-treat, a month early
Miami Children's Museum opens all 17 galleries for trick-or-treating at its Not So Scary Halloween Bash, 1 to 5pm, with mini pumpkin decorating and spooky crafts. Then back to the Bandshell, where the Florida Fellowship Super Choir marks ten years of Black Gospel.
Everything else we'd squeeze in
Mysteries. Noir Week Miami runs Thursday to Saturday at the Koubek Center in Little Havana: three days of crime novelists, journalists, filmmakers and artists.
A cult classic. Friday, Pinecrest Farmers Market screens The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Next Wednesday. Author Min Jin Lee sits down with Katie Phang for An Evening with Min Jin Lee; tickets are required and include a copy of her new book, American Hagwon.
Find your thing in Miami
That's our perfect weekend. Maybe that's a little aggressive for one weekend, but it's nice to live in a place that can offer all of that. Daisy brings together 392 things to do across Miami, so build yours: see everything happening this week, browse arts and culture, nightlife or classes, or post your own event, free.
What is Daisy?
Daisy connects the event calendars of museums, farms, breweries, venues and libraries across Miami in one place, so you hear about things before they happen, not the next day. Want this every week? Sign up for Find your thing in Miami, the free weekly newsletter.
