Add color and texture to clothing and in this day long wool embroidery class! Students will work in exuberant Dala-Floda style (also known as påsöm in Swedish), pulling inspiration directly from folk costumes in ASI’s collections. Students will work on the basic stitches and work on a practice motif in the morning. Then in the afternoon, students can select a traditional motif or sketch a new one and begin work on a piece of clothing or other textile of their choice. Choosing threads for color and texture, planning a layout and transferring designs will all be covered in this workshop. Students may leave inspired to add a bit of folk art style to even more textiles in their lives! Additional information: Advanced registration required. Physical ability: Please bring magnification (e.g. readers) if you use it for close up work. Skill level: This class is open to all experience levels. Ages: Suitable for ages 11+. A $30 materials fee is due in class to the instructor.
