About this event
One of 178 upcoming events at Anne Springs Close Greenway.
Discover the rich history of South Carolina’s native grasslands and why these remarkable landscapes are among the state’s most endangered ecosystems. Once stretching from the mountains to the coast, grasslands flourished thanks to South Carolina’s unique climate, geology and soils. Today, only a handful of remnants remain, offering a rare glimpse into the state’s natural heritage and inspiring ongoing restoration efforts. Led by Dr. Robert Carter, Clemson Extension Wildlife and Forestry Agent, this program begins with an engaging presentation exploring the history, ecology and importance of South Carolina’s grasslands, followed by a guided walk through the Dottie Metzler Prairie to experience one of these special landscapes firsthand. Participants will receive 2.5 hours of Master Naturalist Advanced Training toward their annual requirements. Register Here
