Join ceramic artist Mariana Monteagudo at Arts Warehouse for an engaging demonstration exploring the possibilities of paper clay! Known for her expressive sculptural work and innovative approach to ceramics, Monteagudo will share her process, techniques, and insights into working with paper clay as a versatile material for building and sculpting. During the demonstration, Mariana will explore the preparation and handling of paper clay, demonstrate construction and joining techniques, and discuss how the material can be used to create complex forms, achieve greater flexibility during the building process, and push the boundaries of traditional ceramic sculpture. Participants will have the opportunity to observe her working process firsthand and gain insight into how an established ceramic artist incorporates experimentation, material exploration, and personal expression into her practice. About Mariana Monteagudo | Mariana Monteagudo is a sculptor and visual artist who has been working on her series of doll sculptures over the last decade. Her latex, ceramic, and mixed-media figures offer fascinating imagery, drawing from references like pre-Columbian aesthetics, fashion, tv pop culture, Japanese manga, and mass-market toys. Muñecas (Dolls) is the generic term Monteagudo has used to describe her work since 1998. With them, the artist has received significant awards and her works have been featured in solo and group exhibitions and fairs in Madrid, Miami, Chicago, Aruba, Caracas, New York, Sao Paulo, and other venues. Her unique characters have attracted the attention of critics, and her work is part of the MOLAA Museum in California, Everson Museum, NY, Cesar Gaviria Trujillo Collection, among other contemporary art collections.
