REGISTER HERE Throughout history, artists have experimented with wax, fabric, pigment, metal, and glass to create expressive and symbolic artworks. In this camp, we’ll explore how ancient art-making techniques like batik, encaustic, and gilded mosaics can inspire new creative directions. Students will work hands-on with traditional materials and reinterpret them through a contemporary lens, experimenting with resists, mixed-media layering, transparency, and texture. Meet the Instructor: Kristina Shriver Kristina Shriver is a visual art educator with over 16 years of experience, working with students of all ages. She teaches at Asheville High School and serves as an AP Studio Art Reader and mentor for other art educators. Kristina designs hands-on, material-rich art experiences that connect historical techniques to contemporary practice, emphasizing experimentation, personal storytelling, and meaningful creative exploration.
