AmiciMusic returns with a thrilling program entitled “THE SOUND of AMERICA.” Pianist and Artistic Director Daniel Weiser will be joined by violinist Tim Schwarz from Philadelphia in this exciting exploration of the incredible diversity of our American sound. The program includes Spirituals and Ragtime as well as Blues-inspired works by W.C. Handy and William Grant Still, the Native-American inspirations of Charles Cadman, the Jewish influence on Ernest Bloch, the country fiddling in Aaron Copland, and the Latin rhythms in Bernstein’s West Side Story. Weiser and Schwarz served as the 1996 U.S. Artistic Ambassadors of Music for which they performed over 50 concerts in 11 countries in the Middle East and Southeast Asia showcasing our American music AmiciMusic is a chamber music organization based in Asheville and Baltimore dedicated to performing the highest quality chamber music in intimate venues and non-traditional spaces. This concert breaks down barriers between performers and audiences by setting up a more relaxed and informal atmosphere through informative talks about each composer’s life before each piece is played. AmiciMusic – Music Among Friends – Concerts in Asheville and Baltimore About the Musicians Since his solo debut with the legendary Philadelphia Orchestra at age nine, violinist Timothy Schwarz has had a brilliant career as a soloist, chamber musician, and pedagogue. Praised for his “energetic performances” (Rome News) and “technique beyond reproach” (Buffalo Times), Schwarz regularly performs throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas as a soloist and chamber musician. His many recordings include the 2018 release of Anthems from Prometheus (Albany Records) “All credit to Timothy Schwarz for providing a performance as gripping from first to last as this one” (Fanfare Magazine), the 2013 release of Early Chamber Works by Jennifer Higdon (Naxos) “Top 10 Classical Albums in 2013” (Philadelphia City Paper) and his 2006 release of Timothy Schwarz, Live! “Good enough to be the only recording in your collection” (American Record Guide). An avid educator, Schwarz is currently Assistant Professor and Head of Strings at Rowan University and Artistic Director and Founder of Techne Music, which includes a summer chamber music camp and concert series. For a five-year period through 2001, Schwarz served three tours as Artistic Ambassador in South America, Asia, and Africa, performing over 100 recitals in 15 countries. He received a Masters of Music from the Peabody Conservatory and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Performance from Temple University. Daniel Weiser, pianist, has a Doctorate in Piano/Chamber Music from the Peabody Conservatory, where he studied with Samuel Sanders and Robert MacDonald and won the Richard Franko Goldman prize for outstanding contribution to musical and educational life. He has performed on many great stages, including the Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall, the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., and on the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series in Chicago. He has also concertized around the world, including Israel, Thailand, Holland, and France and was the 1996 United States Artistic Ambassador Abroad, for which he performed on an eleven-country tour of the Middle East and Asia.
