Get Ready for the Cookin’ & Campin’ BBQ Cook-Off!
Mark your calendars for this one, as the smoky aroma of Southern barbecue returns to the scenic shores of Lake Marion at Palmetto Shores RV Resort in Summerton, SC. The highly anticipated Cookin’ & Campin’ BBQ Cook-Off is back, bringing together some of the best BBQ pitmasters from across the state for a day filled with mouthwatering flavors, great music, and family fun.
Starting at 11 a.m. and running until 3 p.m., this event is open to the public with free admission, so bring your friends, family, and appetites! Eighteen competitive BBQ teams from cities like Columbia, Mount Pleasant, Florence, and beyond will showcase their culinary skills, smoking Boston butts throughout the night to serve up some of the best barbecue in South Carolina. These teams will be competing for thousands in cash prizes and trophies, with the top pitmaster taking home the big prize and a spot in next year’s competition.
As you wander the event, you’ll have the chance to sample a variety of barbecue styles and sauces—from sweet vinegar to smoky hickory, and everything in between. Tickets are $1 each for 2-ounce sample cups, so you can taste as much as you’d like. Barbecue sandwiches will also be available for $5, sandwich meals for $8, and you can even grab BBQ by the pint for $10 to take home. Choose your favorite pitmaster’s creations and enjoy the flavors!
In addition to the fantastic food, there will be live music from noon to 2 p.m. The event also features fun for the whole family, including the chance to feed and pet longhorn cattle, making it a memorable day for kids and adults alike.
