The Galleries at the Liriodendron Mansion Opening September 13: Pastel Paintings by Jo Van Dyke Marion We’re thrilled to host an exhibit of pastels by local painter Jo Van Dyke-Marion in her first solo show! This collection of 39 works conveys the artist’s a love of landscape and the joy she takes in using pastels to show the vibrancy and depth of her subjects. The exhibit opens on Sunday, September 13 from 11 am to 3 pm, and will be on view each Wednesday from 1 to 5 pm through October 28, as well as on Sunday, October 11 from 11 am to 3 pm. Appointments may also be made for private tours and viewing by calling 410-879-4424 or emailing [email protected] Please note that, due to the historic nature of the Liriodendron, the 2nd floor galleries require climbing stairs. About the Artist “The landscape has a story to tell; that is what I try to paint.” Jo Van Dyke-Marion is a Maryland based painter living in Davidsonville who works primarily in pastel and oil. A graduate of Towson University with a degree in Art Education, she taught art and ceramics in public and private schools for 33 years. Now devoted full time to painting, she creates both plein air and studio works inspired by her photographs. Jo studied for ten years with painter Lisa Mitchell and has trained with nationally recognized artists including Albert Handell , Richard McKinley, Barbara Jaenicke, and Marc Hanson. She is a member of the Maryland Pastel Society and the Mid Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association.
