King, Bonnie Raitt and Buddy Guy all recorded with Joe Louis Walker, the San Francisco guitarist who roomed with Mike Bloomfield and entered the Blues Hall of Fame in 2013. He formed the Bosstalkers after his 1985 New Orleans Jazz Fest set. Walker died in 2025, and now his band brings his songs home. Henry Oden, who gave Walker his song Shade Tree Mechanic and toured with Freddie King, plays bass, with Paul Revelli on drums and Daniel on keys. Out front is Paul Steward, the Pomo guitarist whose band Charlie Musselwhite called the real deal blues, and a lecturer at San Francisco State, where Walker earned his degree.
