Fri September 4th Open 10 AM–5 PM MoAD and YBCA present THE NEXUS PARTY, the official party of SF/Bay Area Black Art Week and one of the season’s most anticipated nights. Join artists, cultural leaders, and art lovers from across the Bay Area for an unforgettable celebration featuring beats by DJ KREAM and DJ Jihaari. Come ready to dance, connect, and celebrate. DJ Kream is a global community organizer, event producer, creative, and Oakland, California native who is making waves and breaking boundaries with her signature genre-bending DJ style. In 2016, Kream co-founded the Oakland-based entertainment company Oakhella, where she also made her DJ debut curating tunes at the inaugural festival. Since 2016, Oakhella has grown from a music festival to full scale entertainment company marketing, curating, and producing events for clients like Golden Voice, Black Joy Parade, REI, The Oakland Museum of California, The Battery Club (SF), The Life is Living Festival, and many more. Since making her debut, DJ Kream has curated the vibes at music festivals, nightclubs, weddings, day parties, brunches, drag shows, corporate events, and spaces coast to coast, from Portland to NYC to Mexico City. DJ Kream’s resume includes sharing marquees with legends old and new like Black Coffee, Moodymann, T-Pain, Sean Paul, Joe Kay, Channel Tres, Cypress Hill, 112, Next, Sango, Durand Bernarr, TXC, Kevin Saunderson, Carl Cox, and Coco & Breezy. As an ALL VINYL DJ hailing from Oakland California, and living in Los Angeles for the last decade, DJ Jihaari has put a real stamp on the music and art scene. From opening up for Manny Fresh, Patti Smith, Or Kaytranada. To hosting private parties for Tessa Thompson, Lorna Simpson, Amy Sherald, Mark Bradford, David Hammons, and Fab Five Freddy. To being an assistant Music Supervisor for Women of the Movement on ABC. His extensive knowledge of music from the 20’s to the present set him apart from the run of the mill party DJ. His love for music is expansive. Jihaari has been Barry Jenkins’ personal vinyl curator for the past 2 years and has created a music series called SAMPLE THAT which talks about specific artist discographies, who they were inspired by, and who was inspired by them. Most recently DJ Jihaari has been Frieze Art Festival’s go to DJ and curator of sound. Creating eclectic city specific playlist and interviewing artist in the FOCUS (emerging gallery’s) section of Frieze.
