3-Day Mixed Media Workshop with Artist Helen DeRamus / “Exploring Abstraction” Wednesday, June 2 – Friday, June 4, 2027 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM This workshop is about the process of making art. The exercises are designed to help artists explore new avenues of creation that might lead to a new body of work or will help the artist approach his or her work with renewed vigor. Not every artist will want to begin a new career making abstract images, but I have heard from my workshop participants, “loosening up” is a way to bring new life to their work whether in graphic design, portraiture, landscape or still life painting. Knowing the rules of design and applying them to your abstract image will help you understand those rules better than you ever understood them. We will look at color, dominance, harmony, emphasis, rhythm and value with time for discussion.
