Natural Flood Management in Northern Wisconsin

(Master Naturalist Advanced Training) Flooding from extreme weather events is part of the new normal in Northern Wisconsin, but innovative land management can help. Ashland County Conservationist MaryJo Gingras and Kyle Magyera or the Wisconsin Wetlands Association will tour the group around three sites in the Marengo River headwaters. Their groundbreaking work is successfully addressing severe erosion, gully formation, and compromised wetland storage on private land. Meet at the Town of White River Hall at 10:00 a.m. We’ll break for lunch at the hall, then visit the remaining sites. This field trip requires good mobility for walking off-trail. Space is limited.
