About this event

Take an underwater journey to explore how shipwrecks and submerged aircraft are shaping marine ecosystems. Marine biologist Dr. Kirstin Meyer-Kaiser will share her research on Underwater Cultural Heritage Sites, including the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary off the coast of Boston, where historic wrecks have become thriving habitats for ocean life. With an estimated three million shipwrecks worldwide, these sites serve not only as memorials to lives lost, but also as unique environments for microbes, corals, anemones, and fish. Dr. Meyer-Kaiser will discuss how different metals in wreckage influence marine biodiversity and how scientists are collaborating with commercial fishing communities to help preserve these important cultural and ecological resources. Part of our History on Tap series—join us for an evening of local history, conversation, and craft brews. Admission: $10 per person / $5 for members Must be 21+ to sample beer; IDs will be checked at the door. Enjoy… View Source
