Whalehead's Candlelight Christmas Tours

Step back in time and experience the elegance of Christmas past with Whalehead's Candlelight Christmas Tours, a beloved holiday tradition in Historic Corolla. Held at the beautifully restored Whalehead mansion overlooking the Currituck Sound, these special guided tours offer visitors a glimpse into the holiday customs and traditions of the 1920s, when Edward Collings Knight Jr. and his wife, Marie Louise, enjoyed their magnificent coastal retreat. During the holiday season, the historic Art Nouveau-style mansion is transformed with traditional Christmas decorations inspired by the Knight family's time at Whalehead. Visitors can explore the beautifully appointed rooms adorned with festive greenery, Christmas trees, seasonal displays, and holiday treats, including fruit, candy, and nuts. The experience also features live performances on the mansion's original, custom-designed Steinway piano, accompanied by traditional Christmas carols that bring the spirit of the season to life. Guests can admire the mansion's remarkable architecture, furnishings, and decorative details while learning about the history of Whalehead and its original owners. A special holiday treat at the conclusion of the tour adds to the festive experience. With its combination of history, music, and timeless Christmas charm, Whalehead's Candlelight Christmas Tours offer a memorable way to celebrate the holidays on the Outer Banks.
