The City of Kennesaw will host its annual Independence Day celebration, Salute to America, on Friday, July 3, from 4 to 10 p.m. in Downtown Kennesaw. Admission is free. The evening will feature live music, food vendors and family-friendly activities, culminating in a fireworks finale at 9:30 p.m., visible from Depot Park and along Main Street. Live music at the United Bankshares Amphitheater at Depot Park will be headlined by Rupert’s Orchestra, a 12-piece band known for its high-energy performances and wide-ranging repertoire. The group gained national recognition during its residency at Rupert’s Nightclub in Atlanta, where it performed to packed audiences for more than eight years and was consistently voted the city’s top house band. Featuring a dynamic rhythm section, horn ensemble and multiple vocalists, Rupert’s Orchestra delivers an interactive show spanning Top 40 hits, Motown, R&B, classic rock and big band swing. In addition to street vendors and sponsor booths, the event will offer ticketed inflatable amusements for children. A wide variety of entrées, cold beverages and snacks will be available for purchase. Guests may bring picnic baskets or coolers; however, grills and coolers larger than 20 quarts are not permitted. Reserved seating will be available on Monday, May 18, for $75 per chair on the second-tier level of the turf. Seating is limited, assigned randomly and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Chair reservations can be made online at www.kennesawjuly3.com. Kennesaw city parks are designated “Breathe Easy Zones,” where tobacco products, smoking and e-cigarettes are prohibited. The event may be canceled or postponed due to inclement weather. For more information, visit www.kennesawjuly3.com or call Kennesaw Parks & Recreation at 770-422-9714.
