About this event
One of 148 upcoming events at CNY Arts, and 210 across Syracuse.
The Kirkland Art Center invites artists to participate in a juried show about all the ways food can nourish our bodies, minds, and communities. All those artists and creative people who can hand-deliver work to KAC are encouraged to submit their original 2D and small 3D work (must fit on pedestal or be wall-hung). The juror is Kelso Mayo, studio artist and curator at Arkell Museum in Canajoharie. The deadline to enter is August 26, 2026. The exhibition will run September 12 – October 10. More details, entry requirements, and an application can be found on the KAC website: https://www.kacny.org/juried-show-whats-cooking From still lives and family recipes to agriculture, kitchens, restaurants, feasts, hunger, sustainability, and cultural traditions, food has long inspired artists across every medium. We welcome work that explores food literally, symbolically, politically, humorously, or conceptually. This exhibition coincides with an exciting milestone for the KAC: our major capital project to expand the Center's creative facilities with the addition of a dedicated community and teaching kitchen. This new space will support future educational programming and entrepreneurship that brings people together through food and creates new opportunities for creativity, community, and collaboration. All entry fees will directly support the KAC capital project, helping to build this exciting new chapter for the KAC. The entry fee is $5.
