Advanced Beginner Crochet: Granny Square Wall Hanging with Sarah LaVoie

Know the basic crochet stitches? Take those skills to the next level in this workshop with a focus on the ever-versatile granny square! Advanced Beginner Crochet: Granny Square Wall Hanging with Sarah LaVoie Date: Saturday, August 22, 2026 Time: 10 AM – 1PM Description: In this advanced beginner class, students will create a colorful Crochet Granny Square Wall Hanging.This is the perfect to learn new crochet skills while adding some handmade charm to your wall. Additionally, the granny square is an ever-versatile design element in crochet work; you will be able to apply your new found crochet skills to a multitude of future projects. Students will leave with at least part of the granny square wall hanging completed + the skills and materials to complete it at home. Participants should have basic crochet skills: slip knot, chain, single crochet, and double crochet. Tuition: $65 + $15 materials fee Materials: All materials will be provided, along with crochet hooks to take home and continue practicing! Location: Contemporary Craft, Timmons Studios (5688 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201). Note, this workshop will take place in the Fleischner Family Fibers Loft, which is on the second floor of the building. There are 2 entrances to the Timmons Studios. • One entrance is facing Butler Street. To access the Fibers Loft from the Butler Street facing entrance, there are a total of 32 stairs to ascend. • One entrance is facing 57th Street. This entrance is accessible by ramp, with no stairs to ascend. There is a lift inside the building to access the second floor. We strive to create a welcoming experience. Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops. Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks. About the Artist Sarah is a passionate fiber artist dedicated to making crochet accessible and fun. She has been teaching crochet classes in Pittsburgh for over ten years. Her favorite things to crochet are items inspired by nature, like crocheted fruits and vegetables. Sarah believes in turning yarn into joy and encourages a relaxed, playful approach to the craft.
