Laser Cutter Certification – August

After this workshop you will be certified to rent time on Contemporary Craft’s laser cutter! 2-Hour Workshop Date: Tuesday, August 18, 2026 If you can’t make this date, this workshop is offered once a month. You can see all of the dates here. Please note this workshop is limited to 2 students to ensure working room in our Laser Studio. Time: 6pm-8pm Description: Students will learn the basic operations of the Lightburn Software Program. We will work step-by-step creating a project file on the software, transferring it to the laser cutter, and completing a project. We will go over basic machine operation, safety, and material usage. After completing this workshop, you will be certified to rent time on the Rabbit Laser and will receive a CC pin to commemorate it! Please note that this workshop is required to rent private time on the Rabbit Laser. Technology considerations: CC uses Lightburn, a design software program, to command the laser. This program runs on both Mac OSX and Windows, and students should download the program before arriving for the workshop. A free 30-day trial of Lightburn can be downloaded at: https://lightburnsoftware.com/pages/trial-version-try-before-you-buy In this group workshop, personal laptops or computers are recommended. If you do not have a laptop, you can use a CC laptop. Please bring a USB drive with you to save your files. Tuition: $55 + $10 materials fee Materials: All cutting materials will be provided, but we recommend bringing a folder for handouts, and a method to take notes. We also recommend a bringing a UBS drive to save and transfer files. Location: Contemporary Craft – Raphael Building (5645 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201) Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops. Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.
