Quilting 101: Modern Quilt Block with Karen Womack

Learn the foundational techniques of modern style machine sewn quilt blocks in a fun and relaxed atmosphere! 3-hour workshop Date: Saturday, September 26 Time: 10am-1pm Description: Elevate your textile skills in this fun and relaxed beginner quilting class! If you are a beginner quilter, a long time sewist in need of a brush up, or an artist looking to improve your skills in order to enter juried textile shows, this class is designed for you! In this fun, fast-paced class you will learn the foundational techniques of modern style machine sewn quilt blocks. You will learn tips to master the elusive ¼ inch seam, the dos and don’ts of rotary cutting, and options when your sewing does not go as planned. Prerequisite: In order to have a fun time in this class, students should know how to thread a sewing machine and change the needle and bobbin, and how to sew a straight stitch. Tuition: $65 + $25 materials fee (if you are viewing this listing on your phone, scroll down to the bottom of the page for the class registration link) Materials: all materials are included. Note: We really want you to join us in the studio! Full and partial tuition scholarships are available to alleviate some of the financial burden of attending a class. Note, this workshop will take place in the Fleischner Family Fibers Loft, which is on the second floor of the building. There are 2 entrances to the Timmons Studios. • One entrance is facing Butler Street. To access the Fibers Loft from the Butler Street facing entrance, there are a total of 32 stairs to ascend. • One entrance is facing 57th Street. This entrance is accessible by ramp, with no stairs to ascend. There is a lift inside the building to access the Fibers Loft on the second floor.
