The Art of 3-Dimensional Weaving with Rae Gold

Learn from a legend! Let Rae show you how to "have fun, mess around, and see what happens" with your weaving! Lecture-Demonstration Date: Saturday, August 22 Time: 10am-1pm Description: Rae Gold will show you how to weave in 3-dimensions! Join us for a special lecture demonstration with the inimitable Rae Gold! In this lecture-demonstration, Rae will introduce you to the world of three-dimensional weaving on a four-harness loom. Rae will demonstrate the process of exploring the myriad possibilities and variations for creativity. This is a special event in the fibers studio! We hope that you can join, and along with Rae, we hope that through this lecture demonstration, you will find your creative world opening up with many new ideas! Fun note: when we were first talking about this offering, Rae described it as, “”Mess around, screw up and see what happens with 4 harnesses!” Tuition: $25 Location: Contemporary Craft, Timmons Studios (5688 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201). Note, this workshop will take place in the Fleischner Family Fibers Loft, which is on the second floor of the building. There are 2 entrances to the Timmons Studios. • One entrance is facing Butler Street. To access the Fibers Loft from the Butler Street facing entrance, there are a total of 32 stairs to ascend. • One entrance is facing 57th Street. This entrance is accessible by ramp, with no stairs to ascend. There is a lift inside the building to access the second floor. Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops. Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks. About the Artist Rae Gold has a BFA from Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University). She created one of a kind wearables for 30 years, showing and selling at ACC Baltimore Craft Show, Philadelphia Museuem of Art Craft Show, Smithsonian Craft Show, and Washington Craft Show, among others. For the last ten years she has been creating three dimensional wet felted sculptures, two and three dimensional Joomchi work, and now playing with natural basketry forms.
