Expand your weaving skills with the guidance of weaver Margaret Dugger in this self-directed small group offering! Weaving: Directed Open Studio with Margaret Dugger Fall Term, 3-Month Loom Rental with Weaving Seminar Meetings Dates: September 23 – December 23 Seminar Session Meeting Dates: Wednesdays: September 23, October 7, October 21, November 4, November 18, December 2, December 16 Times of seminar sessions: 6pm-9pm Description: Expand your weaving skills, and weave in community this fall! This offering is part loom rental, part in-depth weaving seminar! Weavers will design and weave individualized projects on one of Contemporary Craft’s looms. Throughout the fall, weavers in the Directoed Open Studio will have access to their looms during CC’s open studio hours + many Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. Plus! Margaret will offer 7 three-hour seminar sessions in which participants will have the opportunity to dive deeper into specifics of their chosen project, including reading—or adapting—a weaving pattern draft, selecting yarn, measuring and estimating material needs, and finishing techniques. These seminar sessions will be spaced out so that weavers have the chance to practice working independently in between sessions, while also feeling supported knowing that when they arrive at their next question, another seminar session is coming up soon! This offering is for weavers with some experience but who might need a little assistance in designing and figuring out how to make the cloth of their dreams! Ideally, weavers will have completed Weaving 1 at CC or who have some other experience with weaving. A variety of loom widths are available. When you register, someone from the studio will reach out to find out more about which loom might be the best fit for you and your project! Tuition: $450 (does not include materials) Materials: Weavers provide their own material. Some yarns are available for purchase from the studio. Registration: Register through Eventbrite. If you are viewing this listing via the Contemporary Craft website on your phone, click this link to visit the Eventbrite registration page. Scholarships: Note: We really want you to join us in the studio! Full and partial tuition scholarships are often available—with some limitations— to offset some of the financial burden of attending a class. Fill out the scholarship form here. You can expect to hear from someone on the CC staff within 2 weeks. If you have any questions, email Jamie Boyle, Fibers Program Manager, at [email protected], or leave a voice message for them at 412-465-1628. Location: Contemporary Craft, TImmons Studios (5688 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201). Note, this workshop will take place in the Fleischner Family Fibers Loft, which is on the second floor of the building. There are 2 entrances to the Timmons Studios. One entrance is facing Butler Street. To access the Fibers Loft from the Butler Street facing entrance, there are a total of 32 stairs to ascend. One entrance is facing 57th Street. This entrance is accessible by ramp, with no stairs to ascend. There is a lift inside the building to access the second floor. If there are accessibility accommodations we can provide, or if there is anything you would like us to know before you arrive, please feel free to call Jamie Boyle at 412-465-1628 or email [email protected]. Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops. Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks. About the Artist Margaret Dugger is an artist currently based in Pittsburgh, PA.
