About this event
@ Backyard Club is a seasonal outdoor program that meets on select Saturdays for one hour. Each session offers hands-on exploration such as hiking on our nature trail, catching and identifying insects, investigating freshwater life, and encouraging curiosity about the world right outside our doors. Select Saturdays | 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. June 13: Meadow Micro-Safari: Insects Up Close Mid-June is the best time of year to find all kinds of cool bugs out in the meadow! Let’s grab some containers and go on a bug hunt, and learn how to catch and identify bugs at home! July 18: Stream Science: Freshwater Life in Action Let’s take a short hike down to the stream behind the museum and investigate some of our local freshwater wildlife to better appreciate the water that only covers 1% of the world’s surface, yet sustains so many species!
