Literary Thursdays: Dorothy Lazard, Auth...

In "Behind the Desk at the Main," librarian Dorothy Lazard shares an intimate look at life inside the Oakland Public Library, where she served her hometown community and preserved its public history. With humor and candor, she explores the joys and pressures of library work — from connecting people with knowledge to navigating economic crises, book bans, and political upheaval — and celebrates libraries as vital spaces of memory, curiosity, and community.
