From Queens Public Library

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Grammy award-winning Composter Pedro Giraudo demonstrates through selections of Piazzolla’s music how he almost single-handedly took tango from small cafes, bars and dance halls into the world of legitimate, prominent concert venues. Piazzolla's legacy is conceiving of and composing tango as concert music, opening the door to the classical world, and to leading contemporary composers like Pedro Giraudo, who continue to evolve tango even further into the world of chamber music. This program is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Hearst Foundation.
