“Emissary of the Prairie”- “He’s been Pickled in Prine”- “King of Card Playing Horses” Gary Warburton on Charlie Roth Originally from western Minnesota Charlie Roth started playing music with some friends for fun. Wedding dances, VFWs, and Legion halls. He learned how to make people dance, learning hundreds of songs from records. Rock, Country, Blues Folk songs. He moved to St. Cloud to attend SCSU and by the time he graduated collage his band was working full time. All of his albums have garnered great reviews and his last one in 2019 ‘I’m the Smile’ was recorded in Austin Texas with some of that cities most legendary session musicians. His current project tentatively entitled Prairie Soul will be released this fall. Charlie is a consummate pro and puts on a good show, he can play music for any occasion. He can tell a story and his songs are stories that can make you laugh and cry often times in the same set. He has a pleasant baritone singing voice and can play his guitar and also a rack harmonica well. He will show up on time with the right equipment for the venue. He still remembers how to make a party happen and provide the right songs at the right time. He has learned thousands of songs from many different genres. “I am just grateful that after all these years I still love playing my guitar and singing the songs I love. Some I wrote and some I just wish I would have wrote and people still want to pay me to do that!..I am truly blessed” says Charlie
