About this event
One of 1,545 upcoming events at Hawaii State Public Library System.
Location: Meeting Room The Nisei (second generation Japanese American) soldiers of World War II left an indelible mark on American history, but just what did they achieve both during and after the war and why is this still relevant to Hawaiʻi and the nation today? In honor of Veterans Day, Byrnes Yamashita, president of the non-profit organization Nisei Veterans Legacy, will answer these questions and more in an informative presentation on the Nisei soldiers of World War II followed by a Q & A session and light refreshments. Mr. Yamashita is a retired Navy engineer and the son of a Nisei soldier from Hawaiʻi. Nisei Veterans Legacy will also be providing a complementary pop-up exhibit on the Nisei soldiers and their accomplishments in the library’s Hawaiʻi & Pacific section of the Adult Reading Room from Sunday, November 1st through Friday, November 13th. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required. All programs are subject to change. See a schedule of upcoming events on the HSPLS Events Calendar.
