Lecture and Fireside Chat with Author and producer-director, Beth Brickell @ Members: Free, Non-Members: $10 In recognition of Mary Brickell’s 109th birthday, join HistoryMiami Museum for a lecture and fireside conversation with author and filmmaker Beth Brickell exploring the early years of Miami’s industrial boom and the visionaries who helped shape the city we know today. This engaging discussion will illuminate the pivotal role William and Mary Brickell played in transforming a frontier settlement into a thriving urban center, offering fresh insight into the forces that fueled Miami’s growth. The program will conclude with an audience Q&A. REGISTER Beth Brickell Author of William and Mary Brickell: Founders of Miami and Ft. Lauderdale Beth Brickell is an actor, producer, and writer with many stage and screen credits, and is especially known for her leading role on the television series Gentle Ben. She has also engaged in film production and investigative journalism, the latter relating to the 1957 disappearance of Maud Crawford. Brickell has authored two books: William and Mary Brickell: Founders of Miami and Fort Lauderdale (2011), the subjects of which were no relation to her, and The Disappearance of Maud Crawford (2013). Getting to HistoryMiami Museum Parking There is nearby parking available in the Miami-Dade Cultural Center Garage, 50 NW 2nd Avenue. Take the south elevator to the second floor exit. Exit this floor and follow the pathway across a covered, above street level footbridge that leads directly to the Miami-Dade Cultural Plaza.
