Follow the story of the Phantom, a spectral presence watching over the Garden, as familiar landscapes transform with dramatic lighting, atmospheric sound, seasonal décor, and mysterious scenes inspired by the spirit of the season. Designed to be explored—not rushed—Spellbound invites you to wander at your own pace. Spellbound isn’t a haunted house or a jump-scare attraction. Spellbound is an adults-only (21+) nighttime experience at Huntsville Botanical Garden featuring dramatic lighting, atmospheric sound, live performers, seasonal cocktails, and themed environments throughout an expanded portion of the Garden. Is Spellbound scary? Spellbound is not a haunted house or a jump-scare attraction. It’s designed to be mysterious, atmospheric, and visually engaging, with just enough eerie charm to celebrate the Halloween season. How long does the experience take? We recommend allowing at least 60 minutes to enjoy Spellbound, though guests are welcome to stay longer, revisit favorite areas, and enjoy food, drinks, and gathering spaces until the event closes. Is this a guided tour? No. Spellbound is a self-guided experience, allowing you to explore the Garden at your own pace. Will there be food and drinks? Yes! Seasonal, spirited, and non-spirited beverages and concessions will be available for purchase throughout the evening. Is this event indoors or outdoors? Spellbound takes place outdoors along Garden pathways. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and dressing appropriately for the weather. Can I wear a costume? Absolutely! We encourage guests to wear Halloween costumes. To help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, costumes may not include full-face masks, realistic weapons or props, or anything that could interfere with the experience or other guests. Costumes that are excessively revealing, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate for a public event are not permitted. Is Spellbound wheelchair accessible? Most of Spellbound takes place along paved Garden pathways and is wheelchair accessible. Where portions of the experience include grass or uneven terrain, an alternate accessible route will be provided. Where should I park? Free parking is available in the Garden’s visitor parking lots. We recommend parking in the Azalea or Dogwood lots. See Garden Map. What happens if it rains? Spellbound is an outdoor event and will take place rain or shine unless severe weather creates unsafe conditions. Any weather-related updates will be communicated through the Garden’s website and social media channels. Can I purchase tickets at the door? Yes, if tickets remain available. At-the-door ticket sales begin at 7:00 p.m. each evening at the Garden Admission Desk and are available until the last entry time for that night. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance to guarantee admission and receive discounted pricing. Can guests under 21 attend? No. Spellbound is designed exclusively for guests 21 years of age and older. A valid government-issued photo ID is required for entry. Can I leave and re-enter the event?
