Hand Drum Making Workshop

Sunday, September 20 11:00AM Drums have been an important component in Indigenous cultures throughout the Americas for centuries. Join IAIS Educational Outreach Ambassador Darlene Kascak (Schaghticoke Tribal Nation) for a workshop in which participants will learn about the history of these instruments, as well as their continued significance within Native American cultures as you make your very own rawhide drum. The drums made in this workshop will be 12” elk rawhide and come with their own drum stick. Spend a fun afternoon learning this skill, as well as appropriate ways to respectfully maintain, store, and play this instrument. Space is highly limited, pre-registration and pre-payment required.
