The truncated form resonates with majesty while also serving as a mournful reminder of humankind’s impact upon the natural world. It has been displayed only once before, in 2019 in Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, where it was accompanied by rites of faith, musical performances, and readings, as well as by a community’s presence, participation, and social interaction. Unearthed has its second residency at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at Washington State University, providing the academic and regional community an occasion to approach the work through intentional participation. Join us for a special performance series with Unearthed this fall 2026, including music, readings, and dance. On Saturday, October 10th the Palouse Choral Society Chamber Choir responds to Unearthed through song, under the direction of Dr. Matthew Myers, Artistic Director. The Chamber Choir will perform selections from “US” by Michael Bussewitz-Quarm. Free and open to the public. Please RSVP to reserve your spot. About | Palouse Choral Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to building connections and belonging on the Palouse through choral music. They bring over 150 volunteer singers together across a growing family of auditioned and non-auditioned ensembles. PCS’s Chamber Choir is an intimate group of select singers focused on complex, small-group choral artistry. Dr. Matthew Myers works as assistant professor of choral music education at Washington State University, where he conducts the University Singers and Treble Choir and teaches courses in music education, conducting, and voice pedagogy. He earned his DMA in choral conducting from Louisiana State University, his master’s degree in choral conducting from Northern Arizona University, and his bachelor’s degree in vocal performance and music education from Luther College. After completing his degree at Luther, he taught grades 6-12 choir at The American International School of Muscat in Oman. He has served as conductor of the NAU Men’s Chorale and Chamber Singers, the LSU Chamber Singers, the Master Chorale of Flagstaff, and the Flagstaff Youth Chorale and has held church music positions in Iowa, Illinois, Louisiana, and Alabama. Prior to his time at Washington State University, Dr. Myers taught at the University of Alabama, where he conducted two choirs and taught courses in music appreciation, choral literature, vocal pedagogy, and diction. Location & Parking The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU is located in the Crimson Cube (on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium and the CUB) on the WSU Pullman campus.
