Art of Forcing Bulbs

Discover how to coax spring-blooming bulbs into flowers long before they appear in the garden! Tarrant County Master Gardeners Sue Kelley and Rocky Deutscher will share their knowledge and experience with growing and propagating bulbs, including which bulbs are best for forcing, how to prepare and plant them, and the chilling and care requirements needed to encourage beautiful blooms indoors. Sue and Rocky have advanced Master Gardener training in plant propagation, trees and tree care, and greenhouse management. Both are active members of the Tarrant County Master Gardener Association and have served in leadership positions on the association’s Executive Board. They have also taught plant propagation and other gardening programs together, bringing both extensive horticultural knowledge and hands-on experience to their presentations. During this program, Sue and Rocky will focus on layering bulbs and forcing bulbs, with demonstrations of both techniques. You’ll learn practical tips for creating colorful winter displays and enjoying the beauty—and anticipation—of spring even during the colder months.
